Why Choose Us?
When deciding where to go for help, it is important to find a provider that is a good fit for your personality, values, and personal goals. It is also important to choose a provider whose approach to care is comfortable for you. We understand that our approach may be a good fit for some people and may not work for others. Before beginning services, we will work with you to figure out whether our approach is a good match for your needs and preferences. While it's not possible to fully describe the experience of counseling or coaching, here are some things you can expect from us:
-
Focus on the Present and Future: We'll want to know some things about your past and what lead-up to you seeking our services, but we will spend most of our time talking about what's happening in the here-and-now and how that may connect to your future goals.
-
Focus on Behavior Change: Talking through your problems can be helpful, but we believe that growth requires change; so expect us to prescribe changes in behavior and routines that will help you feel better and grow in a positive direction.
-
Focus on Agency: Bad things happen in life that are beyond our control, but we believe in the power of choosing your response to your circumstances and taking responsibility for what you can control.
-
Focus on Values: Mindlessly following rules, copying an influencer, or letting someone else control your life is a good way to feel like you're just going through the motions, following someone else's plan. Charting your own course requires understanding who you are and what you stand for.
-
Focus on Meaning and Purpose: Without a 'why', the 'what' and the 'how' don't really matter. To fully activate your values you need to know why, and to what end. There are two facts of existence: we are born and we will die. What are you going to do with the time you have? That will be up to you, but here's one piece of advice: Don't Waste It.
If this approach resonates with you, feel free to reach out. We'll talk through the problems you're trying to tackle, goals you want to achieve, and whether our approach will help you get from here to there.
